I agree, for the price they are killer wheels and probably why they are so popular. They would even look good on a mini van, lol. They just look good on anything. But when they jacked the price $800 to move the offset a 1/2" they were quickly moved off my to-do list LOL. But for $100 a wheel they are cheaper then some of the steel rally wheels I've seen at swap meets and look 10 times better anyway. Not to mention quite a bit lighter. Which brings up another question.....by chance did you toss them on a scale? I'd be curious where that wheel comes in at with the 255-60 tire mounted??
Just the offset is scaring me off. I know for sure I'd have definite issues on the front since my 215/65's will occasionally touch the top inside of the fenders on a turn. Moving the wheels out a 1/2 inch up there is going to make that deal worse for me. So a tire size change would be necessary for sure.....on the front anyway. On the back I'm not completely comfortable yet. I would be open to replace the front tires however to a 215-70 or maybe a 225-70 to help with slightly more ground clearance up there so the front isn't a deal breaker for me. I'd love to see more pics. |

I did not weigh them but they were noticeable lighter than the SS wheels I took off.
They change the whole attitude of the car.

I plan on getting them mounted this weekend and will test them out. After that I will post a picture and let you know how they are.

So I took it out for a drive on some very bumpy and somewhat dippy roads with two little girls in the backseat and my wife in the passenger seat plus a full tank of gas. I also cut the wheel all the way to left and right while driving in tight circles in a parking lot.
I never felt or heard any rubbing but what I did notice was a slight line on the outside of the front left tire. After further investigating it was slightly and I mean slightly touching the top bolt head on the inner fender. The other side didn't touch because that top bolt was not in. I removed the top bolt of the left side and I am almost certain that it fixed it but didn't have time to test it. I am going to buy a few flat button bolts today on the way home from the office and I think I am good to go. Looks wise, I am very pleased. I think if someone didn't want a wider lower type stance and went with a stock size tire like maybe a 215/70 there would no issues. Plus every car is a bit different as we all know.

Looks great, I like it. Your car in the picture doesn't appear to sit any higher than mine.
I ordered a set. I'll check the back spacing and go from there. I have a couple different plans of attack if I run into any issues. |

Just something to note. You mentioned your top inner fender bolt touching.
I don't know if this is factory or not, because they have been there since the mid 80's (as far as I know about the car) but mine have very shallow hex head bolts in those locations (12 o'clock) on both sides, and I assume it's just for that reason, more tire clearance. They are very shallow heads, tricky to keep a wrench or socket on them. I'd guess they aren't more than an 1/8" thick. |

Even as the car is now with stock rallys and 215/65's, as I mentioned once in a great while when turning and backing up I hear a tire rub at full lock. Both of those shallow bolt heads are "polished" LOL Wouldn't bother me at all to switch the front to a 215-70 (stock size) if need be. |

Send us some picks when you install!!!
How do I remove these outer fender well bolts without losing the backing? Took one out and heard the back drop down so I stopped. Found some perfect button headed bolts for this too. Must be a trick to it?

I just got done installing them. I couldn't wait so I took time off work, grabbed the car from my wife, and started mounting tires. My pics are too big so I can't post them.
I haven't driven the car yet accept from the back shop to the front of the house. Going on a test drive this evening to see how it goes. What do you mean the back dropped down? You just removed the top inner bolt at 12 o'clock right? That shouldn't have disturbed anything since there are a half dozen of those bolts around the parameter plus 2 or 3 that attach to the lower firewall in the back. I've had a couple of my upper inner fender bolts in and out without any problems. Is it now out of alignment?? For those that are interested, I weighed everything with and without tires while I was swapping. The gist of it is the rallys with tires are 225 lbs. The Torque Thrusts with tires is 190 lbs. |
