Kevin. The trim tag pic was fine. I had just posted your window sticker pics but they were so big I pulled them back to where they had to be clicked on.

Why is there no charge for the orange houndstooth? Is it part of the SS or RS package or could any Camaro get that for free? (I would think there would many more if that were the case)

69SSZL1, given the fact that your car has so many similarities, how's about posting pics of your car and any documentation you have? What motor did yours have? How many options does your car have in common besides ZL2, Endura, fiber optics, etc. I wonder if they were ordered as a pair, with that much in common and such similar build dates. There's a story there. When did your car migrate out of WA state? Charley's rig stayed here its whole life, until he got it anyway. Now they're both in CA.....

South Tacoma Motor Company must have been the biggest Chevrolet dealer in Tacoma. The building is a sizable one, and currently houses a dealership/speed shop called Austin's Pro Max (owned by Walt's Radiator/Muffler founder Walt Austin and his dragster driving son Pat).

Why is there no charge for the orange houndstooth?

When you ordered a Z-87 custom interior, you had your choice of any color vinyl in deluxe attire,or a special houndstooth cloth & vinyl in either yellow or orange.
Page 2 of his window sticker shows the orange houndstooth charge of $110.60,which was gratis with the above notaded Z-87 custom interior.

So in (69) you could get a Cushion Steering Wheel on a Camaro. I was told that you couldn't,so the question is could you or couldn't you??? The reason i am asking is that i too have a Cushion Wheel.

I think that question is answered by looking at that original window sticker... indeed you could, although probably not til very late in production.

I did a internet search for the orig owner and mailed off two letters with a pic of the car. He just called me. He was delighted to know it still existed. In 1970 he was on his way to buy a 70 Charger green 440 RT Magnum and stopped and looked at this car first. While looking at the Charger he kept thinking about the Camaro. It was ordered by the sales manager as his personal demo but before it arrived he dropped dead of a heart attack. He said the car had just arrived right before he bought it. In 1974 he traded it back in at the same dealer towards a 1974 Caprice so he would have room for kids. It had 33,000 miles on it and they allowed him 3300.00 on the trade. He had never wrecked it but did get two tickets in one day going to a funeral. He had great traction problems in the winter that he solved by putting rocks in the trunk. He ditched the standard exhaust and had Midas install Cherry bombs with Triumph exhaust tips. He said the orig tires were Firestone redline tigerpaws. He then bought Michelin redline radials that used tubes. He said his wife said it was too peppy for her and I could hear her in the background agreeing. He doesn't think he took any pics of it back then but if he finds something he will mail it to me. He also said he waxed it every week. Pretty neat...

Charley, did you get the name of the sales manager? Mine was Claude Hartman. My car was also a Demo! It was sold June 28, 1969 with 4000 miles on it.

Didn't get the name. This never quite got to be a demo because the guy died before it arrived.
