Chuck I have removed your statement because of the mix up between you talking about X11-X22, this car being X66 and it being second hand info. If your friend wants to post and straighten things out or if anyone has info that is clearer than what was presented then it can be posted.

The vehicle that started this thread, N593096 is beautiful but is a clone. It sold at the Dallas Mecum auction but was returned by the buyer because he learned it was not real. The car was also run through the Kissimmee Mecum auction and did not sell. The trim tag looks real and no Camaro expert could tell that the X66 was originally an X11. This car was built from a small block X11 car. The paperwork is all fabricated with incorrect dealer spelling, non-existent salesman from that time, etc. It just shows to what extent some will go to fake a rare car. The car is currently on Ebay, item # 221186730297, buyer beware.

Chuck,

The person who purchased this L89 Camaro with the bill of sale, protecto-plate and certified trim tag, is going to be quite disappointed given you posted that the car is fake based on your "nameless" friend's review of the tag. I don't know if your post was necessary or appropriate. JMO, Ed

The new owner should be disappointed & will be very disappointed when the truth comes about this car!

Car was "high bid" to $130K, so unless it was sold after the auction block, this car has not changed hands.
