I agree. The file name listed on the archives photo stated it was 67 396 so that is why I listed it as such.

Another shot of the first engine. Looks like L78 on the exhaust manifold but also looks to say PPD L88 (maybe pre-production L88?).

I don't think that's a D Rick, it's an O as in RPO L88. That picture was taken in the Engine Design/Mock-Up room for Chevrolet Engines

That was before he put the 426 Hemi in it with Hilborn injection sticking out of the hood so it would have to be 68-70 time frame. That was my jungle gym growing up. I must have driven that car at 1000 miles, a 1/4 mile at a time with my imagination. He definitely left us with a lot of great memories.
