Oil update for today: Just came back from my local oil supplier..bought 10 gallons of VP "go juice"...$8.00/gal He is a distributor for Shell products so we got into the Rotella debate. He called Shell in Texas and got their tech guy on the phone...I asked him about the CJ-4 vs the old CI rated Rotella..he said the new oil still has zinc added though the old stuff had .13 and now it is .10...he said the new oil is better overall than the old stuff, more protection,etc...he also said that Comp Cams has endorsed the new Rotella for their flat tappet applications....so there you have it..please don't shoot the messenger also called my GM parts guy about EOS..he said it is discontinued, but dealers still have it around...located 7 cans at $7.00 each...

The stock L78 valve springs, especially after some miles, don't put much stress on the cam. You still need good breakin lube. These newer cams with their radical ramps and stiffer springs seem to be the ones having the problems. I'll still stick with Rotella T just for peace of mind.
