JD,
Go look at the car again and remember to take $2000 and a tow vehicle with you. Then when you get home you can celebrate a great find. ![]() Thanks for the compliments. Rick H. 67 RS Coupe 65 Biscayne |

![]() The sale of this car has been very much under wraps and he didn't advertise just asked me if I would like to buy it out of the blue after it got decoded and how excited I was over it. He hasn't had it very long because he got it from a renter he had evicted and the car was in the rental house backyard full of garbage. He dragged it home after the court said the renter told him he could take the car in lieu of some of the past due rent. He had no idea what the car was worth or even what it was. I know him from my work he is a regular customer I chat with that has become a good friend. I don't think honestly he would sell it out from under me.

Make sure you can get a good title for it before you hand over any cash. And I still wouldn't wait. If the owner has mentioned selling it to you, he will mention it to someone else even if it's in idle conversation.

I know I am going nuts just waiting for him to say he needs the money and will get me a title later. At this point he wants to wait for the title, the previous owner is in jail and the current owner is just waiting for him or someone to get it to him. I don't want to get it without a title and find out later that its stolen or some mess up with the title and I am out my money. I have seen things like that happen to good people thinking they got a good deal, another friend got a '67 Shelby GT350 and they said we will get you a title only to find out it was stolen and he was out his $3000 and still no title. Just trying to avoid a nightmare over a car.

That's what it comes down to. It's hard to give a deposit when he doesn't have the title to complete the deal. But you may still want to give him a deposit with a check and get something in writing that says he will sell you the car for $2000 when he gets the title.
