Well, I guess that takes all the speculation out.
Glad I was able to see this collection 4 years ago. Anyone going to that area of FL needs to go to Don's Garlits Museum of Speed in Ocala before he gets too old. I have no idea if it will close too, but he is getting up there in age too and that museum is a must see for gear heads and 1320 fans. All drag race cars, but some very famous cars from the 60's-80's are in there, NOT just Don's.

Been to Garlits Museum twice... waaaayy back. On one of the visits he was tinkering on a fuel car and fired it up outside the shop !!! It was like a private show for about half a dozen guests. Fantastic memory !!! somewhere around 91-92. The year Kenny ran 300 at Gainesville (also witnessed that). I remember how unseasonably COLD it was in Florida that trip.

Here are some more pictures of Lot A18, the 69 Camaro SS with the L78 and a 4 speed. This is a nice looking car. There's no mention in the writeup if it is documented as an original L78. This car was also featured in the Art of The Musclecar.

Here are some pictures of Lot A24 the 67 Z/28. I don't have a picture of the trim tag on this one, but I'm pretty sure it had a 4L tag.

Here are some pictures of Lots A30 and A33. Both of these Chevelles have L78's in them, but there is no mention of them being documented as original L78 cars. I don't know anything about them.

Here are some pictures of Lot A34, the "L89" 68 Chevelle SS. I don't have any good pictures of the car itself. It was featured in the August '08 issue of Musclecar Review and it was also in the Art of The Musclecar. The VIN is 138378B140051 and it was sold new at DeBonis Chevrolet in Havre Grace MD. I have EG as the engine code for the L78 in '68. I don't know what the engine code for an L89 in a '68 Chevelle would be, but I would think it would be different than the code for an L78. I don't know that there are any real documented L89 Chevelles built in '68.

Here are some pictures of Lot A39 the 65 Malibu SS Z-16. According to the writeup this is car #36 in the Z-16 Registry. I thought this was the Hoss Cartwright car, but it doesn't mention that in the writeup and I thought that car was a different number in the registry. Never the less this is a real Z-16 according to the writeup.
