If you use an automotive grade DTM primer and topcoat with a automotive enamel it will last a long time. Use a spray gun instead of the cheap rattle cans.

The best primer to use is SPI brand epoxy primer reduced with alittle thinner . We get everything prepped and spray a couple of thin coats ,let it set a few hours then top coat. Spray it thin so the grain of the cast still shows. Blocks never had a lot of paint from the plant. Also use light grey orange covers better.Epoxy goes down first on all bare metal surfaces that we do. Even under all filler.
