Default FS: Genuine 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 CSX 2252

One of 453 factory street cars built. Red with black interior, original twin Carter carburetors with small letter Cobra intake, documentation, believed to be the original hi-po engine rebuilt by the original dealer (date code on block and 10-10 crank 1-64), all VIN numbers in proper locations. Even the original Shelby Cobra VIN appears to have never been removed.

Showing only 20K original miles on the odometer, she also boasts her original Borg-Warner aluminum T-10 four speed transmission and shifter, correct and trued chrome wire wheels and new tires. The owner installed 65 GT350 style exhaust provides the throttle music. Engine temperatures are kept cool courtesy of a recent restored radiator and heavy duty electric fan.

The body is in near perfect original dent-free condition with no evidence or history of frame damage. The only body repair history on the car is a rear trunk reskin and rear quarter skin repair. These repairs where done right, barely if at all discernible from original. This is a no rust, flat fender car with no body modifications from factory stock condition.

Entered in many car shows such as SAAC-27, driven at California Speedway in Fontana on 7-2002, displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum Cobra Day 2003, in which a record 118 real original CSX 2000 and 3000 series Cobras participated. Arizona shows include the Full Moon Saloon in Cottonwood in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 (won First Place), displayed at the Copperstate Mustang Club Mustang Shows in Phoenix 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, the Scottsdale Pavillions Car Show in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, Sedona Airport Car Show in 2003, 2006 (won 1st Place), magazine features in Autoweek, Feb. 4-2002, Mustangs and Fords Dec. 2002, The Shelby American #72, April 2003, The Shelby American #73, April 2004, owned by a SAAC concours judge.

Extensive documentation, older restoration thoroughly inspected and maintained. Not a concours “Trailer Queen”, but a perfect driving show car you won’t be afraid to enjoy anytime you want. She aso includes a new spare rim and tire, have all original tools in tool bag, jack, grease gun, tonneau cover, no soft top, bows or side curtains. This investment quality Shelby Cobra is offered for the first time for sale to the public since 1980. When a real one hits the market, it is best not to hesitate. Patrick:

As usual, another beautiful car!

However, at $585,000, it's hard for me to "Keep the Hobby Fun!"

That's a great looking Cobra! I'll tell 'ya, I've always thought that those "flat-fendered" 289 cars were much more attractive than the 427 cars with the big bulging fenders. Sure, I like the 427's power, but the I also like the look of the earlier bodies. Kinda' curious, but did they ever put 427's in those earlier un-flared bodies?

That's quite a view caught in the rear view mirror of the car

There are "narrow hip" 427 street cars. Collectors like them because no one clones them. Very cool look, the narrow hip 427...
