Anyone notice the SS badging in Marlin's pics?
I remember studying these photos with Marlin at past SCRs and wondering what was up with the tail pan SS being mounted high and off to the left. Note the rear shot, even with the sun glaring badly you can positively identify an SS badge high and to the left. I've always figured Yenko must have utilized one of the existing holes that were cast into the rear trim panel for the original SS badge, and simply relocated the original SS up and to the left and added his own 427 or Yenko crest emblem down and to the right, much like he did on the 69 Camaro tail pans. Now if the info regarding the first set of pics is correct, and that they were actually taken very early in the car's life, then my emblem theory may be shot as the SS is absent from the grille, likely as it left Yenko in Canonsburg. I believe the info about the pics to be correct as the original inspection sticker can be seen in the 1st set of pics placed in the middle of the windshield Kentucky style, while later on it is on the driver's side corner corresponding with it's time spent in Indiana. Perhaps the owner decided to add the SS badge back to the grille, since it was an SS just with a Yenko added 427. It's just interesting to me that it's definitely different in the 2 sets of pics. Wonder what the tailpan treatment was originally, did Yenko move the SS but keep it like that? Seems like it would be an awful lot of work to drill off a riveted SS emblem only to replace it in a different location. Looks like small 6 cyliner type marker bezels with Yenko's own 427s on the fenders, but also looks like the 427s are above the marker lights not in front which would leave exposed holes where the 396 marker bezels came off. I'm betting the car had no SS markings when it left Yenko, except for maybe the steering wheel. Any thoughts? ![]() |

I always thought that the original owner resided over the border from Louisville in Indiana, and that the car migrated back to Kentucky later in life where it was eventually discovered behind the body shop. Regardless as to the order of ownership, we might not be able to determine how it left Yenko - so many things happened to these cars on Day2! I was actually trying to determine if the wheels in my pics could be the Cragars that are on the car in the other pics
![]() Unfortunately, the Indiana owner is deceased, but his widow was kind enough to submit the photos.

I zoomed in on the the first two pics and it looks like the 427 is in front of the bezel. Would love to have 1200 dpi scan of the original pics to tell for sure.

The fellow who brought the pictures by for me to see said his frind bought the car new and they lived in Louisville at the time. I think the SS grille emblem was put on at a later date by another owner.

I bet the rear SS emblem that can be seen in Marlin's pics was added by another owner too.. Probably at the same time the grill SS emblem was added.
