Chuck, I'll try to remember to check when I get home. Though some of the pictures are in storage, too.

....time slip, thats is!! How many of you still have time slips from your car from the 70's? POST EM! Who's got that quickest? AND..you gotta be honest! Here are 2 from when my car was raced as "Quarter Mile High" by the dealer in Maumee, Ohio. 11.49 @ 117 ain't to shabby for a SS back then. Even though I race Super Comp on the 8.90 index at 165mph...my heart is always with the Super Stocks. "Sherwood Allen & Ken Montgomery, are you listening" (a private on-going chatter)

These are from early '71. The car weighed 3960 on the dot. The engine was a stock (new) '69 396 L-78. D/MP ran 10.00lbs/CuIn. The car ran FAR off the record, but it was fun, and it actually won a few trophies. This isn't the quickest time slip. E-town had a machine in the time slip booth that wrote (or tried to) everything the person in the tower wrote. Modern technology for the time, but sometimes you couldn't even read your time.

I see you're from joisey too. Our club is having an event later this month down at Barnegat Bay. We're bringing the old Chevy cars to the NJ Speed Skiff/Garvey boat races. A lot of the boats are of early vintage with the same early Chevy motors in them. We get to park in the "pits" and compare Chevys........some with rudders, some with wheels.

Let me know if you're interested in joining us. That goes for any other joisey boyz.

Vern where and when is this race????
A friend of mine Dave Greenlaw used to race a skiff called "Very Cherry" (JS-99). He was World Champ for a few years. I rode with him a few times, What a Freaking Blast that was. I had to check my shorts when we docked. EVERYBODY stopped what they were doing to watch when they put the skiffs in the water to run.
It's been a long time since I have been to watch them.
Jeff, We can take the Big Car down. Put it back togeather and lets go shake the cob webs off of it.

The date is Sun. Aug. 27th at the Municipal Docks in Barneget on the bay. When I get good directions, I'll PM you. If anyone else is interested, send me a PM so I don't forget to get back to you.

Keep in mind that the event is very weather dependant. They won't race if it's raining or if the bay is too choppy. We're going to try and set up a special safe area for the cars, near the boats. Plan on arriving about 10am.

Well, I've succeeded in leading another thread astray.......sorry Let's see some more early time slips!

Verne
