Pete:
Yes I was aware of the history of both of these Central Chev cars, however, it was the refusal by GM to deliver a heater delete car to Canada that always intrgued me. The heater delete cars of mine were not imported. It would be interesting to see if Dave Mathers could comment on the L-88 rumour. Don |

Don,
The heater delete option for credit (RPO C-48) was a 1967 L-88 requirement only (although it was offered for any 1967 Corvette). All 1968 and up Corvettes, including L-88s, were equipped with heaters to comply with federal regulations requiring an operational defroster. The regulations covered all cars that were to be delivered in the continental United States. While there were other cars such as Camaros and Novas delivered to Hawaii, Canada, and other locations without heaters, Corvettes were equipped with heaters regardless of where they were to be delivered. For what it's worth, I was just at the NCRS National event in Hershey, PA... There are six 1969 L-88s in attendance (including one Canadian delivered car)... All of these cars have heaters. Regards, Stan Falenski |

I believe my yellow 4sp coupe may be the car involved in the COPO Chevelle trade. According to GM of Canada the car was originally sold through Dan Kane Chev Olds in Windsor, On. The dealership may have gone by another name in late 68 when the car was delivered. Shortly after that it was sold or dealer traded to Central I think. I'm not 100% sure on that but it did go to another dealer. I have been told that a Chevelle was traded on the Corvette. Later it ended up in Vancouver where I bought it in 99.

Phil: Heater Delete, or was heater removed at any time prior to your purchase in 99? |

Hello: I know of at least one 1969 yellow L-88 convertible that was sold new in Ontario. It was probably a stick shift and it had the optional HARDTOP! The story was that the owner didn't like it (something about overheating) and returned it to the dealer...

I took a look at the only picture I have of the yellow 1969 L-88 and it appears to be the coupe others have mentioned here. It is NOT a convertible as I had previously thought. The picture was taken at some distance as the car was driven through the pits at Sparta. I believe Dave Mathers was driving it that day in April 1970
