Likely just a coincidence that it ended up in a truck.
Probably restamped to make a fake Z/28, then the fake Z was wrecked.

BTW, I am really interested in knowing the casting date on this one when you get around to checking it out.

Very nice. I am digging the truck. Prefer the 67 with no trim, but like this body style clear through 72... trim or no trim.
Do you have all the AC pieces to make it functional?

Thanks guys - That Copper color is........ MARVELOUS isn't it. Looked high and low multiple times a day for months and walked away from a few. Looked a coil sprung C20 trucks too. Even came with an extra NOS grill. Now that it has been massaged for 3 weeks, a very good running, sounding and riding truck. No joy on the A/C parts.
OK - Took 8 tries and some flexing of my 65 year old body but here is the date code. E 20 9 appears to be....... Last edited by MR SHORTY; 05-17-2024 at 12:34 AM. |

Difficult to read, but looks like E 30 9, which would be May 30, which makes sense for an 010 block as they didn't come into use until mid April.
That means, even if the stamp wasn't in the wrong place, and even if it had not been decked, it could not have been assemble in March.

Thanks - Digging into paint codes last night - Realized the Copper poly paint code 522 was not a 1969 color. Was listed for '70-'72. My SPID shows 1001MK Spec. Paint. So my '69 is a bit of a unicorn there too..........
