I saw the car before it was repainted red for a second time. The paint was real nice then. It really didn't need to be painted then, but what can you do now. It's a shame how much overspray there is but its hard to find nice original cars like that and with all the paper work it has, makes it great car.

We went and looked at the Nova again yesterday. The owner pulled it out so we could get a better look at it. It was a little rougher than I orginally thought, but still a nice original car. All of the numbers checked out, so it's a true number-matching car. We drove it and it drove great. Nice power, comfortable ride and tranny shifted nice and strong. Here are some more pics, a few of which I need y'all's help on.

1. There are 2 holes in the trunk. What in the heck could these have been for?

2. This doesn't look factory. Any idea what/why it's there?

3. Again, this isn't factory. What and why is it here?

4. The owner said he thought this was a clamp for a fire extinguisher. Does that look right?

5. Is this the factory spare?

6. Here are some small rust spots under the rear bumper. How much should I worry about these?

Here are some better pics of the engine compartment. Let me know what you think - good, bad & ugly!

It is the high speed blower relay and temp sensor, both factory

Again, it IS factory, the bypass valve for factory ac

Appears to be, it matches the 4 on the ground.

The holes in the trunk look like air line fitting holes for air shocks.

The wires on top of the a/c box look factory to me....

The heater hose valve - I'm not sure, but I thought was factory too.

The rust you are seeing on the rear tank supports is more likely just 'scale', probably nothing to worry about. That 'fix' will be a nice weekend project, just scrap it off, fill it in if necessary, and spray it.

Those 2 holes in the trunk are suposed to have plastic plugs in them? What they are for I am not sure. All my 68 novas had them? Maybe someone will chime in? Like Marlin said all the engine compartment pictures along with the AC parts look original to me?

Jason

Just a random question here, is it common to have the gauges on the center console with a Nova? I have never seen that before

Yes, very common. The console could be had with or without the gauges. The console was only available in the bucket seat cars.

I would like to know more about the two trunk holes like Jason. My Novas have them as well. I am glad they did since it helped water drain in the years before I found the cars....

Don't know if I would pay to much into the 20's but that is just me.
