Being a New Yorker for forty years before moving to PA I have never been able to buy into the Tasty Kake mystique - Sorry I've tried all of them.
When I worked on Wissahickon Ave the Tasty Kake bakery was right behind us and we smelled the delicious aroma's all day long. But as much as
I tried, they just never hit that spot.

But Cheese Steaks - that's another story. A good dripping Cheese Steak with some cheese fries and an ice cold beer - I'm in heaven.
I can't understand why these aren't sold all over the country. But be aware not every deli or shop who makes them will do. Philly has a bunch
that can make them just right and there are a few by me, but it takes some shopping to find the right place. Once you've find it you'll always
know how late their open and how long it will take you to get there!

I worked in the South Bronx for many years and a couple of times a month we would run into the city (Manhattan) for pastrami sandwiches.
It would take an hour to get there and back but it was well worth the trip to the Herald Square Deli when you got back with those giant
hot pastrami's on rye with the Jewish Deli mustard and a big sour pickle!! But then again that's another story - I'm making myself hungry -
I've got to see how early I can get a Cheese Steak!!

WOW.....now that's a coincidence. I GOT IN THE OVEN RIGHT NOW a 9lb pork butt saturated with garlic and rosemary for Italian Porketta with provolone and roasted hot peppers "sang-witches" (said like my friends at Tony Luke's)

All you gotta do is show up!

Jeff
