This X9 Black 70 Hemi Cuda convertible was sold new at Haynes Motor Co. in Del Rio TX. It is 1 of 18 built, 1 of 6 with a 4 speed, 1 of 5 in X9 and 1 of 3 in X9 with a black interior. This is an unrestored car with 30K miles and it still has its original drivetrain. There are 3 that are unrestored cars and they are all X9 cars. I believe 16 or the 18 are known. There is a Lime Light Canadian sold car that was supposedly crushed and an Ivy Green car whose fate is unknown. Darryl Wischnewsky recently purchased this car from the original owner and had Apex clean it up before bringing it to the show. It was a Premier Unveiling even though it is an unrestored car.

This J6 Sassy Grass Green 71 Hemi Cuda is 1 of 119 built. It's a 4 speed car with 3.54 gears. It was featured in the June '19 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines and is featured in their '23 calendar. This car was in the Maple Leaf Muscle Invitational so I believe it was a Canadian sold car as well. B. Boyles had this car at the show.

I thought the car was sold new in San Jose CA, but being in the Maple Leaf Muscle Display made me question that.

You guys are exactly right about the origins of both Sassy cars. While this display was intended to celebrate Canadian cars, once Ward and Barry decided to bring their car out Bob thought it would be a good idea to place it next to mine. Bob called it a “Can-Am display within a display”, where people could compare the different ways these two cars were ordered. Not sure if this ended up being confusing, but in any case I was honored to have Barry’s killer car parked next to mine. And Ward is indeed an awesome guy. Anyway, thanks Myron for the great pics and excellent commentary, you’re spot on as usual! - Wade |

Cudino (Wade)
What is the Canadian history behind your car? At first look I thought it was the car that came from Montreal but it appears to just be very similarly equipped? |
