In the early 80's I saved up my summer lawn mowing money to buy a new black and gold Continental at Downers Grove Schwinn. I remember Dad driving me up there and counting out the cash on the counter for the $209.99 + tax price. I still have the bike - my son rode it for a while in his early teen years. Hanging in the basement now.......

Feels weird to see stuff I used to own on display in a museum.

It feels even weirder if it is something I still own and am still using.

I respectfully disagree on the year of the Lemon Peeler.

I believe that Peeler is a 1969.
One year only “1969” offered some very cool items on the Krate series.
1) Rear tire was a gripper Slik that was a color line to match the bike color’
2) Glitter hand grips to match the bike.
3) Last, but not least - only year for the 90 degree bent shifter.

The Krate on display in this museum has all the components of a 1969.

Below is an LE = Nov. 1969 Lemon Peeler that belongs to a fellow collector.
Yellow color line.
Glitter grips.
Bent shifter.

We have an orange krate and a lemon peeler. The orange one to go with my Chevelle and the yellow one to go with my sons Vega. I'm looking for a pea picker to go with dad's GTO.

I liked the gray ghost or the cotton picker.
