You should get something that records directly to DVD's then...something like this:

I bought a Sony wide screen (not High Def) format video camera last year that records to a Hard drive in the camera... if I had to do it over I would buy a High Def one for sure...
They are not that much more expensive and they look a heluva lot better. Forgot to mention that it is has one touch DVD recording... just put the camera on the charging base and hit the one touch button and it does everything for you.
