With a bench grinder, it doesn't take all that much practice to sharpen a drill bit. Use a new one as an example for the angles. With a drill press you have some control when drilling. A hand drill tends to break a lot more bits, especially the smaller one.

Agree. I picked up a small jig designed for this for under 10.00 at princess auto which sets the angle and works well with the bench grinder.I hear the drill doctors work fine also from friends who have them.
