i don,t know, factory built race car with a heater? [/ QUOTE ] Clear to me you have never driven one. If you ever get the chance to drive one on the strip through a set of headers and slicks you will see very quickly why the heater was left in .You will need it to dry your underware. I hate fords but respect these probally because it was the only car I have ever driven that scared me.And not just once.![]() |

Similar to those 427 Comets! ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Yes Rick we had one of those up here also one of 22. Tom knows the car well. She was bad but the fairlane would eat her. It was not really fair however since I think the fairlane had the motor tweeked with higher compression pistons vs stock and some other vintage speed stuff.I was driving an original 66 L-72 biscayne 4spd at the time so it was not like I didnot know what power was. It was a shocking type of power like when I got to drive a 66 l-79 Nova. When you let off it was like where did that come from and yes I think I would like to try that again. ![]() |

So how did the L72 Biscayne stack up against the Fairlane, Comet, and Nova?? [/ QUOTE ] Hi Paul: I never had the opportunity to go head to head with the two 427 fords but on the strip I think she would beat both of them just because neither could get their power to the ground, The biscayne was a very consistant low 12 car on slicks and yes air plane fuel. She would hook up real well all the time but the fords would not. They out powered her for sure but I think the best time I remember for the comet was mid 12's.That was with 70's suspension technology also. Today it would probally be a different story. The Nova HAAAAAAA. That little sucker I ran many times and she was lengths back every time. The ZL1 cam and other Gm performance parts in the l-72 and 456 gears took care of any small block that was foolish enough to try to beat her on the strip. ![]() |
