Default Re: NCIB Reports - What Exactly Is One???

The problem is that in order to access the system for the old stuff, you have to provide a lot of detailed information on why you are accessing the system and provide a lot of credentialing on the user (person accessing the system itself) and NOBODY wants to give that up if something blows up (privacy law wise) down the road. I know a lot of the Police depts have been warned not to try to access it unless it is pertaining to an open case/car theft etc.

This is right on target -- accountability. You need a case number and better have a good reason for your request when obtaining one. However in some states you can now legally obtain license tag info for a fee, which was not permitted years ago. I think NICB may be sitting on a cash cow if the privacy law issue was re-legislated to some extent for this.
