The same color was available in 1972 Chevrolet and Pontiac lines, also. I don't know if it was a Buick color. We liked that color in 1972 and looked at an orange Pontiac LeMans and an orange Chevrolet Camaro.

Joe
As a long time "Olds guy" i can appreciate this car in every detail and it looks like you took care of them all. I owned a 72 W-30 hardtop in Flame Orange witha white Interior and stripes. It was sold new in Sask and I still have all the GM Canada Docs on the car. Flame Oranege seemed to be popular in the hardtops. Where was your car sold new. PM me if there are any pieces you are still looking for.

Love it....wow, super sano and clean!!! .
I remember when I had my '69 & '70 442 Post cars shunning the '71 & '72 cars....25 years can sure make a difference (sure has the the opposite effect on women) . In my boneyard days I recall forking and shoving a similar '71 442 coupe into the squeezer....hit on the pass. quarter and I'd already sold the hood and best parts. . Pretty sure it was the same pressing when I tossed that '69 Judge coupe in I've mentioned before? . I have to admit I always enjoyed sending the Rustangs in....knew it was wrong with so many others but scrap was like $55/ton so had little choice as my save pile was too big already! . And they do squeal, the cars when being squeezed....I can still hear them sometimes! . ~ Foolish Pete

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I love seeing all the awesome cars on this site! Cool to have mine included. Makes all the hard work worth it.
A year and a half ago or so, you guys were commenting on my 68 Hurst Olds that was on E-bay, that's how I found this site. Hey Canuck, the W30 originally sold at a dealership called Arthur Sirios Ltd. in Riviere duLoup, PQ (where is that anyway?). Sent letters to the first two owners in Canada, but no response............. I do have a couple misc. parts I need, I'll send you a PM in a bit. |

Very nice looking ride! I wish I could open up a home for wayward Oldsmobiles, but I believe that my wife might kill me!

[ QUOTE ]
Hey Canuck, the W30 originally sold at a dealership called Arthur Sirios Ltd. in Riviere duLoup, PQ (where is that anyway?). Sent letters to the first two owners in Canada, but no response............. [/ QUOTE ] Canada is a huge country, about 1000 miles wider than USA. Quebec is on the east coast and Rivere Du Loop is in the Eastern regions of the province. A lot of cars sold in those Eastern towns got shipped into Labrador where the high paid construction workers needed something to spend their money on. No guarantee that that was the history of your car. Many early owners may have been transient. I know of two other 72 w-30 hardtops in Flame Orange that were sold new in Canada other than the one I had.

That orange was popular, my parents' '72 Lemans GT was the same shade of orange.
Your "driver" restoration is very sanitary, the '68 H/O must have been stunning. Sorry your appraiser experience was poor. It's a wide open industry, and you really have to interview people to make sure they're up to the task. Some of us do know what we're doing, however ![]() Here's a link to that green '72 W30 for sale up here in the Pacific NW. Not nearly as cherry as the one featured here, but a fun color and a 4sp as well..... http://www.memorylanemotors.net/carpics.php?car=72442 TOM |
