Another retro-Willys. ![]() I think that's a '40 grille, as opposed to the more popular '41 style. ![]() ![]() Another nicely done '32 sedan. ![]() COOL--redlines and Cragars on this '56 Pontiac Safari (their Nomad). ![]() ![]() Yenko-striped Chevelle with BIG cam and HUGE rump-rump idle. ![]() "Matranga" '40 Merc custom. ![]() "Patina'd" '32 highboy. ![]() Art Morrison's '55 Chevy test car--with the Morrison frame upgrade and Bill Mitchell 427 small-block. COOOOOL. ![]() Second-gen with new crate LS-7 (I think---it was the new Corvette engine) plus a six-speed. ![]() |

'66 Shelby Ragtop is one of those dozen or so "continuation" cars from the '80's. A very nice guy won it a couple of years ago in one of those Ronald McDonald House giveaway raffles. I appraised it for him during negotiations with the IRS over its declared value. You'd like to think that a project as bold as creating a dozen "new" Shelbys with Shelby VIN's would use only the finest Mustangs as donors and would be painstakingly remanufactured...and you'd of course be wrong. IIRC, that car started out as a '65 6 cylinder car and it had been in a fight or two. One quarter was patched with a section spliced in vertically over the wheel opening!.
But hey, it is a REAL SHELBY, (sorta kinda). Looks like some neat cars showed up. I didn't go this year as I had already hit Minnesota's BACK TO THE 50's while visiting the parents last month, so Goodguys seemed redundant. The thru-'72 rule change caught a lot of people by surprise this year. There should be a larger influx of late '60's iron next year. Probably not so many Mustangs, though, since the big Mustang Roundup in Bellevue is always the same weekend..... |
