When I was younger ( some called me a yuppie ), I used to
drive SAAB's. I had a trememdous collection of SAAB aerospace related images. I thought it cool that the roots of the car came from an aircraft manufacturer. Anyway, here are a few of my favorites. The Viggen was the Swedish Air Force ( don't all laugh at once ) multi-role fighter of choice before the new Gripen came into use. Two more of my favorites:
The Viggen was famous for its short, take off anywhere reputation. This image shows a group of Viggens taxi-ing down a snowy road preparing for takeoff. I used to call this one "traffic jam of Viggens on the Garden State Parkway". ![]() This is the new multi-role SAAB Gripen. It really is an awesome fighter in its own right. Again, as can be seen in this image, the claim to fame was that this fighter could use normal roads for taxi & takeoff. How'd you like to look out your front window and see this thing driving by ! ![]() Hey Honey, you'll never guess what I just saw drive by the house.... I used to call this one "taking the Gripen out for a Sunday drive". ![]() ![]() Almost makes you want to live in Sweeden - huh? ![]()
