IF you plan on keeping this car forever, paint it black.

However, "being a small collector that rotates his collection" indicates you won't likely have it long term. If you know you will likely sell it someday, keep it original color.

Luckily my 69 Z is black with black interior. I would be having the same struggle as you if it were any color of green, although the very dark fathom green has grown on me over the years.

Or, just do like so many guys nowadays, and replace the trim tag with a "reproduction" tag. Of course, I am NOT serious. I wish it were illegal to make fake tags.
