I too do not believe it is entirely due to the noise issue as I have seen cars thru out the production with the open element. I also feel it may have been a supplier thing. Here are the codes;

Here's another Chevelle that Legendary Has:
http://www.legendarymotorcar.com/inventory/6097.html Is it just me or are their cars getting more and more sloppy with time? Look at the grille on this restored SS 396 Chevelle. If you take the time to restore it, why not do it right?

A '70 Chevelle SS without cowl induction should not have hood pins.
All Super Sports in '71 and '72 with and without cowl got hood pins...including the Heavy Chevy. |
