In 1964, the Chevy II was a whopping 2 years old so I doubt it was ready for the scrap heap. Agree with Bill, those Trim Tag and VIN tag rivets are way wrong. I would think it impossible for the diff cover be on upside down since the ring gear clearance is offset to one side ![]()

Yeah....you're right.....after looking at it again, it's installed correctly (Differential Cover)...the purpose of the embossed shape is to catch the lube thrown off the ring gear and channel it back to feed the bearings.......Geesh!!! I must have been really tired when I looked at the pic's yesterday........
