With the late door mirrors I think those would have to be 76 to 79 doors. Motion used a Ford Torino sport mirror on all the Phase III cars.
I sure do like that color of Blue. Pantera

-------68 back-up lights are also gone.
-------Look closely at the mirrors, Pantera, as they dont appear to be the later Corvette mirrors either. There is a crease in the middle of them. They sort of look a bit like 1970 442 mirrors...........Bill S |

Consider that the gold GT went for $225 at BJ and it's documented and fully restored and he wants $250!!! it seems a little much. When he first put this car up for sale months ago he wanted $175. I wonder if it has changed hands or is still owned by the same guy.

Good point, Canuckle...according to the auction, this car had an "October 2004 appraised value $250,000", yet was a no sale at $175k several months ago, and it didn't reach the $100k mark at BJ-Palm Beach in April, and now it carries a $250k buy it now?

Gee I think if the Gold vette had gone across the block a little earlier in the evening, it just might have brought at least a full 1/3 to double more than it did. After the 3 million dollar Olds sold everything seemed to stall or was overlooked by the bidders. I know that there were two or three bidders that were at dinner and missed getting to bid on the Gold Motion car. One was a famous wrestler from Okla.
This blue car is one nice looking piece. What few parts it has on it, that are not what some of us may think it should have, don't really hurt the value that much. Joels cars are all different from each other. That was the main selling point for his cars. You could get it your way. The main selling point of this car, is that he (Joel) had something to do with it. Only time will tell if someone will reconize any of these cars from way back when, or we come across old pic from the past to help document these cars, where we can acutally see what they looked like back then. As for this '68, I think someone will wind up owning it soon. That is a rare piece of history and one fine looking one at that. If I had the money it would be parked in my garage right now. But then I was always a sucker for a blue vette. The white stripe just makes it that much better. IMHO. What it sells for is just a matter of who and how bad they want to own it. The Camaro that goes with it sure looks good to me. I am sure they are open to a good offer. Dave Belk was the owner and I think he sold it so each person that now owns it will try to make a buck off it, if they can. That is the american way. More power to them if they do. Personally, I can't wait till they reach a Million dollars each. He.. He... He.... Pantera

Pantera,
I would think serious buyers for that gold 'vette would have known when it was going across the block, can't imagine they would be off eatin dinner and snoozed away their chance.

There was not a official set time for any car. The estimated time for the Motion was later than estimated. Two of the ones that missed it were very close to being there on time. But when you hear the gavel bang down it is too late.
I felt the car was RUSHED through with little fanfair by unknowledgeable auctioneers that had little or no interest in seeing it bring top dollar. Wham bang and it was off the floor and out the door. It will sure make me think twice about using their service if I ever auction one of mine off. I don't know how to describe it but the entire bidding floor all got up and left it seemed after the Olds went through. None of the cars after it brought top dollar. Odd I just don't know how to describe it. Pantera ![]()

Pantera [/ QUOTE ] Larry...you described it perfectly...We and a few other Y-Net members there noticed that they didn't give a crap about that car. while I was out front taking the pictures of the car as it was going into the ramp area...one of the announcers was trying to figure out what he was going to say about the car...and none of it was correct. It was rushed across the platform and misrepresented by the Barrett Jackson annoucing crew...but I guess that's the price that you pay and the chance that you take...when you deal with them. ![]() |
