Welp, got in just shy of 4am this morning (Sunday), got a few hours of sleep, then spent the day with the family. Had around 72 cars and AWESOME weather in Stanton. Barometer wasn't anything to write home about, but that's racin'. Lots of cool cars, as usual, and well worth the 1600+ miles of driving. The Canucks were out in force, and as usual it was a riot a minute hangin' with those guys! Got to meet Pete's family as well as Marlin's, so now I can put some faces to the stories!

The top 8 cars were either Mopar or Chevrolet, with JJ (#1), Pete (#3), and I (#7) representing the Chevys. JJ went an 11.99@118(mph?), Pete went 12.20@114(mph?), and I went [email protected], but all 3 of us won our shootouts. I believe Casey went some 13.4s in the 'Scayne, and even let Marlin play backseat driver on one of his passes! Benoit's LT-1 'Vette went 12.52@111!

Jimi Day and David Chamberlain from Imagine Motorsports showed up, and we got to visit for a quite a while about what projects they had in the shop, future projects, all about the HR454SS, the Inciner8tor, and the rest of the cool stuff they got going.

I gotta thank Big Dog and John for helping me wrench on the car, and for the "go-fast" advice. Wish we'd had more time to "tinker", but the *real* race cars were breathing down our necks wanting onto the track.

I also made a couple of pulls on a chassis dyno...the ole yellow submarine made a respectable 416rwhp at 6400rpms! I would have thought the manifolds would have kept the peak under 6k, but dynos generally don't lie. The R3 Stude put down 365rwhp, and managed a 12.85 not long after that. A big THANKS to Steve Clay (269-420-0875) for lettin' us spin up the dyno!

Cool! Great news Rob!

I have just one question....what did the Gobi Beige sled run? Did he bring it?

Yep - the 'ole Biscayne went 13.49@104 on Saturday. As usual, I had a blast .... Met up with Marlin, and gave him a harrassin' as only he deserves. He can now be referred to as *ballast*, as I put him in the backseat to try to get some traction out of the 'Scayne. He wasn't able to bring his Deuce, as it is still apart. He promises to have it ready for September. If he doesn't, his harrassin' by me goes up a notch.

Here's a pic of the LT-1 Vette that ran the 12.50's ....

The "Stroker Boy" moniker on his trailer is one of my fine touches to his pit area ........

Here's a pic of my Biscayne up against a '72 Chevelle SS 454 - original owner car.

Please pay no attention to the pretty RED bulb on my side of the tree.

Yeah, I've "upgraded" my arch enemy within the last year. I went from an R3 Stude to those 440-6 'Bees...kinda like going from the Joker to Mr. Freeze! The thing with those 'Bees is that they hook so well that they just mat it out of the hole...they ALWAYS post the best 60 ft. times of any car their, so you always start off behind for the first 1/8 or so. And they're all 3 so darn consistent, that you'd better be on your game each and every time or you're in trouble.

Was Dave McCutcheon there with his 1970 Mist Green L34 Chevelle?..what he run?

Yep, Dave (NeatSS) was there...BUT, the question isn't what did HE run, but what did his WIFE run?!? And better yet, who has the better reaction times in the family?!?

Oh, and as you said, I believe Gary Place is the guy. I kept hearing it on the loud speaker, and it seemed as I'd heard the name before, but wasn't sure where...

Yes, we were there and had a great time! The car performed perfectly running consistent 14.90's all weekend. The poor old Chevelle turned 175K on the way to the track Saturday and we rewarded it with over 30 passes that weekend. Reid road along on as many of those passes as he could. This was Deb's first time ever on the track. On the third pass she cut a .505 light. The rest of the weekend she pretty well had .500 something lights. She won her shootout with .512 .483 .571 lights Yeah, its true, I've been racing in this event since '96 and have never scored a "W" without the sandbagger rule. I'll try harder in September!! Maybe she will give me a few pointers!
