Thanks again to everyone for their thoughts. Although I've had dogs before as a kid, Max was the first dog that felt more like he belonged to me and was more of a family member than a pet.

My wife and son both want another "puppy" soon. Probably sooner than I'd care, but they miss the companionship a lot.
