Isn't that how proxy bidding works....you put in your max amount and every time someone puts in a bid that isn't higher than yours, you overtake their bid amount each time until some one out bids your max bid at the time...

I was watching this auction and it closed without a win? For days the next bid by 1 dollar would meet the lowered reserve but nobody bit. I don't get it.

Makes you wonder how serious the bidders were if they knew what the reserve was and didn't really want to pay $110K when it was dropped back down. I think the Brown RS/COPO sold for $135K at BJ auction so this car looks like a deal at $110K. If only I had $109K I could borrow....

its just strange how all that works, he probably does have it on auto to a certain amount. it was bidding about every 15-20 seconds for a while there.

It's actually GTOman who put in a proxy bid. Then every time MC29 tried a higher bid, the computer automatically bid the next increment for GTOman. Once MC29 exceeded GTOman's max bid, he became the high bidder. Notice that GTOman then put in a higher bid, and MC29 snuck up on him again.
Once the bidding is over, and you can see the actual bids, it's easier to understand. But you know two things.... GTOman's tactics are to put in a significantly higher bid, and MC29's tactic is to try to "just" overbid the current high bid. Oh yeah, we know one other thing...both guys want the car!
Ain't ebay fun!!
