thanks for asking i bought this car last month from okla. it has had 6 owners contacted 2,3,4,5,6 th the second owner tell s me the car was a factory installed item at delivery 427 alum heads.have contacted the original dealer who is still in business waiting on response. the original 396 factory heads came with the car .they are brand new.awaiting on reply from original owner will keep you posted. the car is all original ,original paint 95 % matching numbers car <font color="red"> </font>

What's the engine datecode on your 69 Nova SS 396 (L89)?

Just so I understand your post. The car came from the factory with the alumimin heads and the factory put the cast iron heads were in the trunk.

Sounds like dealer installed aluminum heads and they left the original iron heads in the trunk. So it would really be an L78 car with L89 heads added.

Seems this thread has gone from "something wanted" to a discussion about your Nova
Very cool car for sure.You keep referring to "427" Aluminum Heads. I could be mistaken, but I believe in 1969 certain heads were used strictly on 427's (L88 & ZL1) while others were used on both 427's and 396's (L89). Be interesting to know if the dealer installed 074's or 842's. Good luck with your car search.
