Got a look (not close) at a 65 396 in a guys garage tonight, he said it was out of a chevelle...what else could it have been in 65? corvette?

casting #3855961, 396-325hp. 2 bolt main...65-67 pass.veh.
#3855962, 396-425hp hi.perf. 65 vette
#3855962, 396-375hp hi perf. mechanical lifters for it to be from '65 Chevelle

Don't forget that the '65 L-78 (396-425hp) was also installed in full size Chevrolets in '65. I recall seeing a production total once that was around (I believe) 2500.
My best friend in high school had one.

TB is exactly right. My brother had a yellow one that would leave one black streek for about 300 yards! What was GM thinking??

My thoughts too. Although the same engine in the Corvette and the full size cars got solids. Why? [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]
