I have heard that it is estimated that only 200-400 Chevelles ever got the dual snorkel air cleaner in 70. There are a few posts about this air cleaner on Team Chevelle, and it seems everyone has a differing opinion... If i recal correctly, someone suggested the dual snorkel was actually designed for the camaro, and when the L78 was discontinued they used up the remaining stock of them on the chevelle(?) I don't really remember exactly, so don't quote me on this, as it may be 100% false. I do know that the dual snorkel seems to be a rare piece to find anywhere, so I would guess it was used in very limited quantities in relation to the open element style.
