They were not installed in the Yenko cars, they were sold to racers over-the-counter. Yenko sold a lot of them to his Marine customers, some dirt track racers also bought them. I've seen several for sale at Carlisle swap meets, sometimes complete engines - carb to pan, fly to fan!

That article has it backward. Chevy was selling ZL1 blocks and Can Am blocks then Yenko took over and was selling them.
Yenko also tried to lower his cost and had some cast by a company outside of USA but it didn't work out too well. |
