I hadn't heard they were going to be 454's...I thought I had read they were going to be 427s, but it may have been wishful thinking on my part.

GRB:

They are coming out with a couple of 572ci engines. There is a thread on this site somewhere about them...

EDIT: here it is: NEW 572

Here is the link guys. Kev, it is really a 454.
I still think you would be better off buying a new zl1 block and new guts and then finding some of the vintage parts like the heads, intake, carb, distrib.. It would look very much like a vintage zl1 and run like stink. One of our board members has that exact setup. That is the route to go IMO.

Sounds like some young enterprising GM marketing executive making a name for himself by cashing in on the current ZL-1 craze. Think they didnt notice all the new ZL-1 cars being snapped up, and the current prices for the old "ZL-1'S"? Same old story, $$$$$$$

I contacted GM Performance Parts a month ago trying to get an availability and pricing on the ZZ572's. They would not release any info at that time and I have since heard that there may not be enough built for the general public. If that's the case why all the hype?

There was a large add in this weekends paper that Friendly Chev in Fridley, MN was getting several of these and taking orders for anyone looking for a dealer.

Can this 454 ZL-1 be built by buying parts over the parts counter from GM too?
If so,how can they limit it to 200 units??
If not how do you get spare parts in the future???
