I wholeheartedly agree, an 'E' vs. an 'L' is no contest. I'm sure you would have caught the 428 slug in third gear though, that's where I found I can really pour it on without losing traction with the 'E's. Did you ever soak your tires back in the day? We soaked a few for the pure stock drags, didn't work much better.
