I use the POR exhaust manifold paint, its a bit lighter, but You can probably tint it with Regular Black POR. This works great for drivers.

These were taken apart, wire brushed and a rust inhibitor was applied then shot with rattle can steering gearbox paint from NPD. They were too blue so I dusted them with light coats of some cast iron gray.

The POR may be a tougher finish though.
