Back in 1977 in Westchester, NY
there was a Orange/Black Phase III Corvette that cruised our area. All I remember was the kids name was John & you could here that car coming from miles away. Open sidepipes, 454 Phase III, 4spd w/ Hone OD ... .... and that sound .... phew .... unforgetable, to this day! |

The Phase III GT I remember seeing at Motion Peformance was a 1969 Corvette. It did not have the stinger stripe down the side; just the black tail panel with the wrap around stripe on the rear section. I also don't recall it having the slotted tail lamps and, if it did, they weren't as large as the ones in the picture above. The hood striping was different too; I think it just had the center stripe and not the wrap around stripe and finally the car was definately pearl yellow and not Daytona yellow. Oh yeah, the car had a 427 in it and not a 454.
I was only 8 years old at the time but that car and the visit to Motion Performance left quite the impression. Heck for all I know my parents were talking to Joel in the "showroom" area where the car was located. We even walked back in an area where they had a Berry Mini-Tub and in a service bay we saw a brown with white stripe Camaro being turned into a Phase III Camaro. If only I could travel back in time. |

I am almost certain that it had the full body kit with the exposed headlights and the fastback window; etc.
