I tried to get that to happen after the other car surfaced, but owner of that car had no interest in it due to it already being decked.

To each their own, but that seems pretty crazy to me. I would much rather have the original engine back with my car, even if it had been decked. The Z16 community is a pretty small one and the knowledge base is amazing (especially Jeff!) so it would be well recognized within the community as the original engine, even if stampings could not prove it so.
