Hi Gang, well, this sure blew up! I have been busy the last couple of days and not surfing here as much, but things are good. I hope you're all enjoying the season!
So, early on when I joined this forum I was specifically asked to delete my selling prices by more than a few (different) buyers... so, I naturally presumed that was SOP here, and / or that my items were being resold, which, and I'm sure many of you will agree, is fine if I (you) get your asking price - we always run the risk of undervaluing our items here (because of our practice of mandatory pricing) and sometimes that becomes evident based on how quickly items sell. I made many of those errors early on here with some goodies, but that's moot and not the point here. So, I've gotten in the habit of deleting the prices - and also of editing the original ad when the item sells so's not to bump a "sold" listing to the top - I feel that's a good thing for all involved myself. Now, back to this R12. The first listing was for 8 cans with a total of 102oz for $160 shipped - those sold to Joe in 6 minutes from my post going live. Including shipping, that's $1.56 per ounce. Making a 12oz can worth $18.72 shipped and a 14oz can $21.84 SHIPPED, and we all know shipping isn't cheap - even though these have to go Ground. I listed the case of 12 12oz cans which is 144oz for $250 shipped which is $1.73 per ounce to make up for the extraordinary shipping costs and why I said "similarly priced" to allude that it was a deal since that first stash sold quickly. Making each 12oz can worth $20.76, again shipped. These sold to Phil in 47 minutes from the time the ad went live. Based on the above, and how much it can (seem to) go for at swaps, I've clearly under valued R12 - part of that is that I'm not here at a swap meet selling to "strangers" but here in the sYc Community and wanting to pass along deals that I sometimes stumble upon and share my good fortune with my Yenko.net friends. Moving forward I will leave prices up when I items sell - I agree that when others do it helps me too. And, since I don't really have the bandwidth to revisit all of my past listings here on sYc, if ANYONE wants to know what I sold something for - just comment in the original post bringing it to the top and I'll let you all know what the selling price was; I can likely figure it out from my emails & records. Cheers all and please be safe, well, and merry this season! Anthony PS - John, bring them back, there is certainly a need here it seems! And thank you as always for your service - let me know if you're coming back to CA and we'll meet up again when it's safe. And thank you to all of our sYc friends who serve! Cheers!! |

Will do Anthony! I'll make a trip to Pomona when it opens back up. But i'm headed to the great state of TX. I had to divorce myself from CA, for tax purposes. I will not give one red cent of my pension to those Vultures in Sacramento.
Merry Christmas everyone! |

Anthony, I don't think you are under pricing parts. The people on this forum are in a unique position to still be using products that the rest of the automotive world seems to consider obsolete and undesirable. When a product/part they are looking for comes up for sale at a "fair" price, it gets sold.
The past 4-5 years, I could barely get $10 for a can of R12 at swap meets around here and, usually, brought most cans back home. The demand for it has diminished with widespread use of aftermarket A/C in restorations and resto-mods requiring R-134a. Speaking of R134a, it has already been replaced in many new vehicles and will be phased out of all by 2021. The cost of the replacement refrigerant makes the price of R12 look like a steal. R134a has come under EPA licensing regulations and I was told, last June, that I needed a license to purchase it at one store. I went to a different store and bought their last case of 12 cans. We'll all be stocking up on that next....

SOLD
Hi again Gang, just found another stash of NOS R-12. An unopened case as shown - had gotten wet sometime in the past as shown. IG-LO 12oz cans by DuPont. And one Sercon 14oz can - notice the price tag, $1.38 - WOW! If we only knew. Total of 158oz of Freon. I shook and weighed each can; each is full and not breached. As a bonus - there's a partial case of 10 NOS of IG-LO hose & valve assembly packs. $350 shipped & insured to the 48 for everything shown. That's $2.00/oz and $3 per pack (you can resell if you like) and $4 to ship & insure is how I'm valuing this all today. Cheers all, Anthony Last edited by AnthonyS; 02-16-2021 at 04:45 AM. Hi again Gang,
I found two more 12oz cans for someone who just wants to top up a system and doesn't need a bunch. I also have this used hose kit - looks complete and functional, it spins, but no guarantee on any of it. Cans are full with some lid surface oxidation that won't impede using them. $2.00 per oz = $48 and $7.00 to ship ground to the 48. Hose is free with cans. $55.00 total PPFF. Thanks again all, Anthony |
