So...… I Are Smart...…. Found the problem...…. I thought I knew everything as I have done this many times in the past...….. Let's just say I ruined the converter and the trans pump and leave it at that...…. It's in the hands of Experts now being fixed...… Ends up I didn't have the pump engaged properly with the converter......Darn this car stuff is hard and $$$$$$$

Damn! I (almost) had that same problem putting the trans back in my grampa's old 71 Lincoln. Well in all that excitement I couldn't remember if I heard three "clunks" or only two when I installed the converter. (I know it sounds like the old Dirty Harry line). Got the entire trans installed and noticed it was a bit tight against the engine. Pulled it all back out and yup - only two clunks. Pulled the converter back out and reinserted it with three clunks to fully seat it in the pump lugs. Now I feel lucky! ;-)
