Slightly off topic but T-3 related anyway. Several old ones I've bench tested lit up just fine, then smoked inside, clouded the glass and thus became useless. If you don't ever drive it at night, or don't have to show for judging they operate, then never turning an old one "on" would be the obvious choice. Agree?

And never test one with a battery charger. Unregulated battery charger voltages can spike significantly and burn out what would have been useable bulbs. I only test bulbs using a battery after first having checked them with an ohm meter.
