There's some contradiction in what it might be. In 1966 they changed the upper alternator bracket (at least in production on big blocks for sure) which gave the alternator better support. This is 1965 style, but there isn't an inline gas filter which I believe BB '65 Vettes had. Exhaust manifolds look correct for '65 L78 or '66 L72. Vette wire/distributor shielding, '65 Vette looking thermostat housing. I guess it's possible it's an early 1966 mock-up from on-hand parts. It's kind-of a mix '65-'66. I wish I could read the part numbers better. I still lean '65 L78.

----Pete,,,That style thermostat housing was also used on 67 L88 Corvettes as they had the 396 style aluminum radiator. There is also no choke housing on the intake which would make the intake a 65 style but probably hogged out with a stamped Part number......Bill S
