Impala Console. What Year?
I came across this console and believe it's from an Impala. Could anyone tell me what year it would be? Thanks, Rick

Not a caprice, that would have the woodgrain. This console/gauges would belong to a '66 impala. Pretty rare and desirable with the console clock and not the vacuum gauge. Not sure the value but it's up there....easily north of $1000

I would have to agree. Complete console, gauges and wiring should bring that.

Gauge details
As stated this setup is a 1 year option. The gauge package was available for both Caprice: RPO A51 that included bucket seats, lower dash pad and gauges. For the Impala SS it waS OPTION D59, that included the gauges and lower dash pad as the SS already had bucket seats. Now the caprice console would have wood grains rather than the aluminum inserts. The standard gauge package included the man idol gauge in the top right corner which is the most common. The clock reeplaced the manifold gauge when you ordered the RPO U16 tach and you then received a universal no united clock on top of the dash. You also got the clock when you ordered the 4-spd trans with a big block as that included the tach.
The clock alone in good shape has sold for close to $1000. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-67-Imp...haHgMO&vxp=mtr The biggest problem with the gauge package is that people too often cut off the upper section of the gauges as can be seen in the eBay ad. The reason for this is that they don't realize you have to have the lower padded dash rather then woodgrain or aluminum insert for the gauges to properly fit. The console without the gauge package is correct for 1966 and 1967, gauge package only 1966. Picture of gauge package installed correctly with lower dash pad: Picture with incorrect installation, no lower dash pads, at least they didn't cut off the upper section but you can see how bad it looks: Paul Winvoices
