Great stories for sure! I now own a '69!Camaro that ran in SS/D as "Shangri-La" by Barry Curran and Bob Moon. Mine had a couple different paint jobs and was originally raced in SS/H as "Super Paranoia" by Bill Izykowski.....ring a bell? Did you ever race against it? I know it went to Indy, Gators and lots of divisionals. Man!, I hope you find your car! I'd search EVERY '69 Camaro race car you can for that elusive serial number!!! And, I PRAY no scumbag "recreates" your car now that the VIN and Yenko paperwork are public knowledge!!! I REALLY HOPE THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your life with us, Dave Siltman

Hi Dave,
My second 69 Camaro that I ran in Super Stock beginning in late 1976 I ran as a SS/H (396-325HP). Unfortunately, I don't remember any of your car's former owners. I ran the car a little bit on the east coast, but not a lot. I also ran it as a 396-375 HP in SS/FA with cast iron heads and SS/EA with the original aluminum closed chamber heads (I still have one here, somewhere) and then in 1985 moved it up to SS/DA 427-425 HP and set the record in Englishtown in May of 1986. Good Times for sure. Do you still have the car? GM |

Bill S, I set that record for SS/DA in 1986, not 76, at 9.87 @ 135.13. We had been quicker than that at Delmar, Delaware earlier that year, but Division 1 Tech would not allow me to tear down for that record. That was another story all in itself (LOL), we were also #1 Qualifier at that race if my memory serves me correctly. GM |
