Marlin,
Mine is an '08 3500HD 6.0 gas with almost 200K on it. Runs great. Those are very good motors. Mine has the towing package and the temp never budged towing uphill.

I have the tow package as well, trans cooler and temp gauge, - all the good stuff. I took it to the dealer before the towing season, they could find nothing wrong. I had them change the thermostat just for peace of mind. My truck sits, sometimes for weeks at a time, so I'm thinking the radiator is starting to block up.... Overall, it's a very good truck!
