Not all of the original fittings have the recess around the outer edge of the hex like the one Rich posted. Here's a few pictures of some NOS fittings and one that I have reworked from a reproduction. I am currently working on making these properly with use of CNC equipment. One of the projects that I am currently doing to make restoring these cars easier.
