Default Re: Yenko Deuce Found - pics finally!

Hi Marlin - I am brand new today to the forum. I have some interesting information on the orange Yenko Nova from Centerville, MD. In 1986 I worked for the Maryland State Railroad Administration,(the agency that used to be responsible for the MARC commuter train, and also for all local freight lines on Maryland's Eastern shore. One spring day in April 1986 I was driving north on MD 213 to Chestertown, MD to review a project to upgrade the rail yard there. When I got to Centerville, for some reason I slowed down and looked to the right to see a bunch of old cars sitting near a small outbuilding shed like structure. Suddenly I saw an orange Nova. I then recognized the black Yenko stripe on the side, carrying over onto the trunk lid. Could it be a real Yenko Nova? My heart started pounding. The grass and the weeds were all grown up around it, but I knew it had to be the real deal, not a clone. Remember, no one cloned cars back then, especially in an area so remote! I was 27 at the time, and tried feverishly to find someone in the area to inquire about the car. No such luck! I pawed around that car as much as I could, but felt I may get into trouble for trespassing, being a State Employee. For a couple more years I saw that car, and then one day it was gone.

About 10 years ago, I attended a Camaro car show in Frederick, MD at the fairgrounds. There were several Yenko Camaro's there, and I ended up talking to an owner about the Nova in Centerville. This person told me it was a myth, but I never let on that I had actually touched it!

Last Saturday, June 21, I happened upon a website showing a Yenko Camaro clone for sale. I automatically thought of the Centerville Yenko Nova, and Googled It. Voila! Your blog shows up with pictures and "the rest of the story". THE INTERNET IS AMAZING SOMETIMES! I could not wait fast enough to join the registry to tell you my story!

Anyway, thanks for such a great ending, and for providing the photos! Now you may add my two cents worth to such a neat mystery! I AM SO HAPPY THIS CAR WAS RESCUED. Now I only wished it was mine!

Would it be possible to see the car sometime in the near future? I notice your blog is from 2008, so I am taking a chance here. I would love to see it, if the owner is willing. Also, I do not know if you own it, or just know the owner. If not I would understand, but either way maybe some more photos of its current condition.

Anyway, I would appreicate an answer to this blog. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

PS - I have been to Lee Slaughters (Delaware) numerous times. I know he sold the business some time ago, but it has reopened in Florida!

Sincerely,
Tom from Emmitsburg, MD

Hi Tom this is Dennis. I believe that you are speaking about my Orange Deuce. I've taken the car out a couple of times this year. The second time I ran into Joe that I purchased that car off of. He told me about all of the loops that he had to go through to purchase the car from Midway Transmission. So that Joe could look under the hood the guy would not let him look until he paid him $20. He gave him the $20 and told him to come back tomorrow. These are some of the hoops that Joe had to take to purchase the car. He purchased the car in 1990 and I purchased it from him in 2003. If you'd like to see some pictures of the car you can look on Muscle Car Corvette Nationals 2012 or if you would like just email me and I can send you some pics ([email protected]). We are in the process of moving, so all of the pictures and documentation that I have are packed away right now. If you would like to see the car sometime please let me know and we can arrange that too after the move.
Thanks,
Dennis
