The factory rating was never 370HP. Ive dynoed 2 ram iv engines i had built both pretty much stock and they came in around 440 hp. They only said that in publications because of the horsepower to weight ratio. 3700lb car

I think we all realize that factory ratings were often inaccurate, but if the factory said in publications/stated that the RAIV had 370 hp, that's the "factory rating." At least that's what I understand it to be, and I think that's the common understanding. Surprising that the RAIV is only rated at 4 hp more than the RAIII, which came in at 366 hp. Scott

We may never know why they said it was only 4 more hp but I can definitely tell you the difference is staggering. A ram iv will run circles around a III car and I stand by the horsepower difference.
The difference is about the same as driving a LS5 and a LS6
